"I wanted to make it much cleaner, with a lot of attention on construction," said Véronique Branquinho as she reflected on the logic behind the presentation for autumn/winter 2008 season. Indeed, all the items we have examined from that season have reduced details, highly considered quality and little more voluminous cuts that puts the attention to fabric and construction. Crafted from traditional glen plaid highest quality pure wool, with subtle subdued pattern is contrasted with slightly oversized, untypical silhouette (which reminds us of early 00s Martin Margiela blazers) - sleeves are cut slightly wider and longer, body is rather loose, front flap pockets are bigger... One of the items you have to put on and wear to understand. Obviously as usual with Branquinho, you can expect highest attention to detail and craftsmanship (signature horn buttons buttons secured by metal studs, fully canvased construction, leather hanging tab).
Veronique Branquinho looked upon men's fashion as a selection of indispensable evergreens worn by realistic men, rather than focusing on idols, muses or remote stars. Due to her subtle approach to men’s wear, her vision can be described as nonchalant dressiness with a conceptual themes, and highest attention to detail, construction and fabrication.
